SysAdmin/ Ops Manager

Coming from SysAdmin or DevOps and want to take a step into management? This is your in -

- an Operations Manager role in a company that specialises in finding meaningful patterns to data. They employ analytical tools to help businesses, particularly those in the aviation sector, leverage their data to enhance their operations and decision-making.

Essentially, in terms of responsibilities there'll be a lot of SysAdmin at the beginning - the plan going forward is to hire a team around whoever gets this job (you!) so it'll be more about managing and taking ownership of projects than it is about people management at first. The people come later and you'll have a big say in who comes in to your team.

The majority of their services are already on cloud and they’re planning on migrating the rest in the near future so you’ll be heavily involved on that side of things. You’ll be reporting directly to the CTO, giving you the opportunity to have a genuine input on IT operations going forward.

What you’ll be doing:

You’ll be supporting and maintaining the IT environment, it’s a bit of a Windows/ Linux mix so ideally you have experience with both. The first big project is the cloud migration one but you’ll have plenty of opportunity outside of this to make an impact, once they get containers and IaC up and running there'll be a touch of DevOps too, getting CI/CD set up, all of that jazz.

What you need:

  • Linux admin and bash scripting experience.
  • Some cloud (they're on AWS with some Azure for AD, etc.), migrations would be ideal.
  • If you have some experience with DevOps tools that would be great.
  • VM installation and configuration, some networking.

Salary:

€70-80k.

Interview process:

Quick intro chat with the hiring manager followed by a technical interview with a final culture-fit round at the end.

Remote:

Hybrid - 1 day per week in the office in North Dublin.
