About the org:
This organisation is a large financial services business with a sizeable engineering operation in Ireland.
The team sits within application security and works closely with engineering, operations and business leaders. Their job is to make secure software delivery part of the normal development process, rather than something bolted on before release.
You’ll lead engineers and analysts, own the direction of the team and take responsibility for getting the roadmap delivered. You’re someone who has already led people, managed performance and delivered technical products at scale.

What you'll do

• Lead and develop a mixed team of engineers and analysts, setting clear expectations, handling performance properly and helping experienced people improve without micromanaging them.
• Own the application security roadmap from strategy through to delivery, turning broad goals into sensible milestones and making sure they actually happen.
• Improve how engineering teams use Secure SDLC practices, including secrets management, SAST, SCA and DAST, alongside better automation, testing and release controls.
• Work across engineering, operations and senior leadership to make decisions on priorities, capacity and risk, then explain those decisions clearly when trade-offs are required.

What you need:

• At least 12 years in technology, including five or more years leading technical team.
• Strong delivery experience, with evidence that you have owned roadmaps, set direction and delivered complex software or security capabilities.
• A solid technical background across cloud-native systems, architecture, AWS, Agile delivery, DevSecOps and Secure SDLC practices.
• The judgement and communication skills to influence senior stakeholders, use data to make decisions and keep multiple workstreams moving without creating unnecessary theatre.
