Java Engineer

A hands-on full-stack Java engineering role building investment technology on AWS, with just enough complexity to keep things interesting.

This organisation operates in the financial services sector, delivering technology that supports portfolio management, trading, and investment operations on a global scale. Their Irish presence spans decades, with established engineering teams contributing to large-scale, business-critical platforms used worldwide.

What you'll do

• Design and develop Java-based applications using Spring Boot, Kafka, and modern middleware patterns
• Build and enhance client-side features using Angular, NGRX, and standard web technologies (HTML, CSS/SCSS, JavaScript)
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and Agile delivery practices, including Jenkins-based workflows
• Participate in code reviews, testing (including ATDD), and performance optimisation across monolithic and microservices architectures

What you need

• Strong experience with Java, Spring Boot, and messaging technologies such as Kafka
• Solid front-end development skills with Angular and modern JavaScript frameworks
• Experience working in Agile environments with CI/CD tooling (e.g. Jenkins)
• Deep understanding of scalable application design and object-oriented programming principles

Salary: €70,000–€75,000 plus 15% bonus and 9%–20% non-contributory pension (scaled with age)

Location: Galway

Working setup: Hybrid, with one week per month in the office
