Platform Engineer

Overview

This team works across the gaps between services, stepping in when billing systems need to scale, identity flows become more complex, infrastructure costs creep up, or platform reliability becomes a competitive advantage.

You'll work across distributed systems, platform infrastructure, backend services and production environments. Some problems will be obvious. Most won't.

This is not a role for someone who needs a well-defined backlog. It suits an engineer who is curious, pragmatic and comfortable working through ambiguity.

What You'll Be Doing

• Working on distributed systems operating at scale
• Improving platform reliability and performance
• Supporting AWS infrastructure and architecture
• Investigating production incidents
• Optimising database performance and queries
• Working on billing systems and Stripe integrations
• Supporting identity and authentication systems, including SAML and SCIM
• Driving platform efficiency and cost optimisation

What You'll Need to Succeed

• You think of yourself as a software engineer first
• You've spent time working on distributed systems in production
• You're comfortable debugging across infrastructure, databases and application code
• You have strong AWS fundamentals
• You enjoy solving reliability and performance problems
• You care more about building the right solution than the perfect solution
• Python experience would be useful
• Strong database experience would be even better
• Sound engineering judgement and the ability to make progress when there isn't an obvious answer
