Senior CloudOps Database Engineer

Overview

This role sits at the intersection of CloudOps, Platform Engineering and Database Performance, working on infrastructure that serves millions of users and processes billions of transactions every year.

You'll be solving the kind of problems that appear when systems reach serious scale: optimising databases before they become bottlenecks, automating work that should not require a human, improving platform reliability without slowing engineering teams down, and building cloud infrastructure designed to grow, not just survive.

This is not a ticket-driven operations role. It is an engineering role.

What You'll Be Doing

• Tuning large PostgreSQL and MariaDB environments running on AWS
• Building automation with Python and Shell instead of clicking through consoles
• Improving platform performance, reliability and observability
• Working across AWS, Docker, ECS, GitHub Actions, Datadog and CloudWatch
• Removing technical debt instead of adding to it
• Helping shape the infrastructure behind a new generation of AI-powered products
