Director of Engineering (Full Stack)

• What You’ll Be Doing

Technical Strategy & Delivery

• Define and execute the long-term engineering vision in partnership with product, architecture, and senior engineering leadership.
• Align platform strategy with future-focused initiatives including modernisation, stability, and replacement of end-of-life technologies.
• Translate tech vision into clear, actionable roadmaps that deliver incremental business and customer value.

Leadership, Coaching & Mentoring

• Provide hands-on guidance to multiple agile engineering teams, including developers, testers, and analysts.
• Mentor emerging technical leaders and develop the next generation of senior engineers and tech leads.
• Serve as the technical authority for engineering standards, patterns, and best practice.

Hands-On Engineering Excellence

• Stay current with the latest industry standards while mastering company-specific engineering practices.
• Lead complex cross-platform initiatives that span multiple business units and product domains.
• Contribute directly to technical design and development where necessary, especially for strategic or highly complex projects.

Cross-Team Impact

• Drive a culture of strong engineering discipline across the wider organisation.
• Advocate for developer experience, tooling improvements, and workflow optimisation.
• Build and nurture an engaged engineering community across business units.

What You Bring

• 8+ years’ hands-on experience as a full-stack software engineer.
• Deep expertise in Java, Spring, Angular, TypeScript, and modern front-end frameworks.
• Strong experience architecting and supporting high-transaction, mission-critical applications.
• Proven ability to design and build scalable, resilient, observable services and APIs.
• Skilled across the full SDLC with strong engineering fundamentals.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder-management ability.
• Demonstrated experience coaching and developing engineering talent.
• Critical thinking, problem-solving ability, and a passion for raising engineering standards.
