Design Engineer

Overview

This factory-based role in Bahrain takes mechanical designs from 2D plans and 3D CAD models through prototypes, tooling and production, with regular contact with the people who will build them.

You’ll work in the Technical Department, reporting to the Head of Design.

What You'll Be Doing

• Produce detailed CAD drawings and 3D models, balancing performance, feasibility, cost, safety and delivery dates.
• Test designs through simulation where appropriate, including strength analysis or CFD.
• Build and inspect prototypes using 3D printing or CNC, then update the design based on what you learn.
• Prepare final drawings for mold suppliers and work through technical questions with them.
• Inspect molds, tooling and fixtures before production.
• Keep design files organised and contribute to new jigs, replacement parts and factory process improvements.
• Share practical guidance with junior engineers.

What You'll Need to Succeed

• Four to five years’ relevant mechanical design experience.
• A Mechanical Engineering degree and strong 2D/3D CAD skills, including SolidWorks or an equivalent system.
• Hands-on exposure to at least one of 3D printing, injection molding, thermoforming or CNC, and an understanding of how designs translate into manufacture.
• Clear written and spoken English and the ability to work with production teams and suppliers.
